MISSION STATEMENT

EiD integrates ecological principles into the design process and improves access to sustainable technologies and methodologies at the Harvard Graduate School of Design.

Since 1998 the organization has engaged students and faculty in a sustainable vision and has created events with immediate impact. The 2002-03 "How To" series of practicing professionals presented case studies and engaged discussion about implementing real world projects ranging from urban design and policy to materials performance in landscape and architectural design. The group has hosted student competitions that solicited ecological proposals and raised awareness and participation in sustainable design at the GSD. EiD continues to work with the student body and the administration to expand sustainability and ecology in the GSD curriculum.

The 2003-04 year will bring to the school workshops on how to build a living machine, a sculptor who works with environmental remediation, an architectural theorist, a community planning organization, provocative films, and more. Please join us.
